New Delhi, India, December 19, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced collaboration agreements with 24 organizations to advance the Genesis Mission. This groundbreaking national initiative leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, and drive energy innovation. Moreover, the effort aims to unite industry, academia, and government in building a scalable AI infrastructure for research and development.
The announcement came on December 18, 2025, during a White House meeting that included key industry leaders, U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, DOE Under Secretary for Science and Genesis Mission Director Dr. Darío Gil, and Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. At the meeting, officials officially launched public-private partnerships designed to push the boundaries of science at unprecedented speed.
Michael Kratsios highlighted how important this initiative is. He said using AI in science will greatly increase productivity for American researchers. The Genesis Mission will help scientists automate experiment design, speed up simulations, and build predictive models that can lead to new advances in energy, manufacturing, and drug discovery. These improvements aim to make sure the benefits of AI are shared across the country.
Dr. Darío Gil spoke about how the mission will bring major changes. He said it supports President Trump’s Executive Order to remove obstacles to innovation and strengthen America’s leadership in AI. “These agreements will help build a national AI platform for scientific discovery and uplift the entire U.S. research ecosystem,” Gil said.
The organizations signing memorandums of understanding (MOUs) include leading technology companies, research firms, and AI innovators. Some of these are Accenture, AMD, Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Cerebras, CoreWeave, Dell, DrivenData, Google, Groq, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Oracle, Palantir, Periodic Labs, Project Prometheus, Radical AI, xAI, and XPRIZE. These partners will work with DOE and its National Laboratories to create solutions that support AI-driven research, regardless of the underlying technology.
The Genesis Mission builds on President Trump’s America’s AI Action Plan, introduced earlier this year, to reduce dependence on foreign adversaries. Additionally, the plan aims to unleash the full strength of America’s scientific enterprise. The mission aims to build a strong national AI research infrastructure by promoting collaboration among government, industry, and academia.
DOE has also opened two Requests for Information (RFIs) to expand participation in the initiative. The “Partnerships for Transformational Artificial Intelligence Models” RFI will remain open until January 14, 2026. Meanwhile, the “Transformational AI Capabilities for National Security” RFI will close on January 23, 2026. These RFIs invite additional organizations to join the effort and contribute to developing cutting-edge AI technologies for science and security.
This announcement signals a major step toward positioning the United States as a global leader in AI-driven scientific innovation. By combining resources and expertise from diverse sectors, the Genesis Mission promises to accelerate discoveries. Consequently, it will shape the future of energy, technology, and national security.
